Official Announcement from Lloyds Metals

Gadchiroli: Prioritizing the career aspirations of local youth, ‘Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited’ (LMEL) has officially announced the postponement of the ‘Gadchiroli District Premier League’ (GDPL) for this year. The company has taken this significant decision after carefully considering the concerns expressed by prospective candidates for recruitment, elected representatives, and local leaders.

This postponement is primarily in response to feedback from local candidates preparing for the upcoming police recruitment process. Many of these young people rely on the same grounds, which were designated for the tournament, for their physical training and practice. Recognizing that the tournament schedule could disrupt their training and potentially impact their careers, Lloyds has decided to step back in the interest of the community.

Expressing his views on this decision, LMEL’s Managing Director, B. Prabhakaran, said that the decision was taken “with a heavy heart” but with clear objectives in mind.

Prabhakaran further stated, “Our dream was to make GDPL a major platform to bring a national-level sporting experience to Gadchiroli. However, the dreams and careers of our local youth are of utmost importance to us. We are aware of the hard work these young people are putting in on this very ground for police recruitment. While it is painful to postpone this grand event, which was to be graced by legendary personalities like Kapil Dev and Mika Singh, we cannot compromise on the professional future of these young people.”

It is noteworthy that Lloyds had already obtained all the necessary permissions from the district administration for this tournament. They had also made significant investments in infrastructure, planning, and celebrity contracts. Despite these expenses, the company has prioritized the long-term interests of the community.
